A little song of anonymous (someone say by Mozart) with the incredible Yo Yo Ma on cello and me on the theremin. The transcription for theremin is mine. The theremin voices are two.
The voice on the song if by Matei.

Tonight I tryed to play a very difficult piece, an Hungarian dance with various changes of speed, and amplitude.
Since it's a long dance (4 minutes) the left hand is very stressed and reduce the clearness of the soundm especially in the end.
In this song there's a soft part almost in the end and I payed with a nail tecnique on the antenna.

Theremin as a percussion, another of my little obsession! In this song there are different attempts to make it beat. The rain is the result of a digital effect with slow curved attack so I can beat (the air), hear the start of the attack and close volume just before sustain begins. After some rain loop I begin beating (really) the theremin in some points of the case where capacitors moves and sounds like little little bells. With a pitch pedal I can control the sound and make a melody. The noise is generated by a distortion pedal played with very low frequencies so that the sound is like air.
The guitar is a silent classic model with a reverb.

I'm trying to improve with some new technics the performance speed of this wonderful instrument without loose the accuracy of the pitch.
As an exercise you can hear "tico tico" played at 200bpm till 300bpm. It's not perfect but I use it to exercise my hands.
This technique is called HSTheremin (High Speed Theremin), based on small and very quick movements, makes the theremin play everything you want without speed limit!
You'll see others interesting examples about

I'm really becoming a little obsessioned by theremin and it's sampling possibilities.
All you hear in this composition is theremin based or controlled. The theremin sound is transformed by a software in midi notes and sent some synth (mallets and waterphone). The midi controlled sounds come from Absynth.
With a looper I succeded in playing all in the same live performance.

I'm trying to use my theremin to control midi hardware and software such as synths and virtual instruments. As engeneer, I wrote a little software that get the note with some approximation and send it to a midi compliant machine.
Here the sound pass through a Guitar Rig processor with some radio effects. It's a little piece from a live show.
